The Surrey Memorial Hospital first opened its doors in 1859 in Surrey ,British Columbia and help serve a small population of around 75,000. Currently, the Surrey Memorial Hospital provides health care services to over 500,000 people in the province of British Columbia. It is the second largest hospital in BC and has the busiest emergency department in all of British Columbia. It also has a 10 bed Adolescent Psychiatry Inpatient Unit which was the first of its type in the Fraser Valley. Surrey Memorial offers many different services from the birth of a newborn to the special care of seniors and everything in between.
The Surrey Memorial Hospital Foundation was established in 1992 and has raised over $45 million in order to purchase new medical equipment, to help fund innovative programs, and to support the training and research of new students and interns. Its mission is to help support the Surrey Memorial Hospital by providing the highest quality health care.
