On September 18th, 1952, General Robert E. Wood the Chairman of Sears Roebuck, Co., and Edgar G. Burton, president of the Robert Simpson company proposed a partnership. They were to take both individually owned company’s and bring them together to create Simpsons-Sears. The first Simpsons-Sears store to open its doors to the public on September 17th, 1953, was located in Stratford, Ontario. Shortly after, the second store would emerge in Kamloops, B.C. These were the first two Canadian Simpsons-Sears stores in all of Canada and proved to be the pioneers of a powerful chain that would soon link from coast to coast.

After many years of ups and downs, management was to be revised. About 20 years after the first couple stores emerged in Canada supporting the Simpsons-Sears logo, a new logo was released. As of August 1st, 1973 the store was now to be called Sears.

In June of 1999, the Sears website, www.sears.ca, became a full time online store, thus making it easier for people to shop online. In 2003, Sears celebrated what was to be their 50th Anniversary.

Every since the first Simpsons-Sears store opened over 50 years ago, it has been committed to improve the lives of customers mainly by providing them with quality service, products and solutions. Today there are over 120 department stores, 49 Sears Home stores, 153 Dealer stores, 13 Outlet stores, 112 Sears Travel offices, and over 2,200 Catalogue merchandise pick-up locations.

Sears has been part of our communities for over 50 years and offers a little something for everyone. They specialize in every department from kids to mens, from girls to womens, they even have sections for furniture, appliances, electronics, recreation and much, much more. This is a store that can help you find whatever it is you're looking for. Make sure to check your local listings for a store nearest you.
